Ski Patrol Training Camp

Disney's Blizzard Beach

  • Type: Mild Thrill Ride
Height: 48 inches (122cm) or shorter
Experience: Fun For Little Ones

Ski Patrol Training Camp is a special aquatic play area just for big kids and preteens at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. Make a splash at this play area designed especially for kids who aren't quite ready for the bigger waterslides and are too old for Tike's Peak, a special play area just for preschoolers.

Swoosh down curvy waterslides and inner-tube slides. Test your balance with a challenging ice-floe walk across a floating iceberg course. There's even a zip line where children less than 60 inches tall can grab a T-bar and hang on as they zip down over the water and drop into a pool. Kids just have the coolest fun on the mountain at Ski Patrol Training Camp!

Ski Patrol Training Camp is an aquatic play area for kids that are preteens or younger (however, it is not suitable for very young children). There are smaller water slides, as well as other fun objects around this area, like "ice sheets" to balance on, as well as a zip line (among other things).

Attractions

Leisure Pool - The pool contain "icebergs" on which guests under 12 can walk across.

Fahrenheit Drops - Commonly known as the "T-Bar", this attraction is a rope drop that deposits guests that are under five feet (1.52 m) tall into eight point five feet (2.6 m) of water.

Freezin' Pipe Springs - This attraction is a short body slide. It deposits guests in the same water area as Farenheight Drops, but has no height restriction.

Cool Runners - a wide-open slide (inner tube) area created by rapidly melting snow mounds (moguls).

Touring Tips

  • Ski Patrol Training Camp is located on the ground level at the base of Mount Gushmore.
  • This is a very fun area for the big kids to preteens. For the smaller kids, there's Tike's Peak.
  • Any time of year that the park is open is a good time to visit, but it does get very hot and very crowded during the summer peak season. There are two better times to arrive, shortly before the park opens, and in the warmer months when the park is open at night, its best to get there mid to late afternoon. If you want to go for the morning/early afternoon, it is essential to arrive by park opening time, particularly in the warmer months.
  • Weekdays, the nearer to the beginning of the week the better. Later in the week, Blizzard Beach attracts the people who typically spend the beginning of the week at the major parks. Local residents tend to keep things busy on the weekends.

Facts

  • The water at Ski Patrol Training Camp is just over 8 feet deep.
  • Highly trained and qualified lifeguards are on duty over the course of the day patrolling the Water Park. All Disney lifeguards must complete a thorough training program that exceeds most national standards.
