Keelhaul Falls

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

  • Type: Thrill Ride
Height: Any Height
Experience: Mild but Wild Rides

Keelhaul Falls is an invigorating, inner tube ride for big kids, teens and adults at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Take a tropical whitewater adventure on a scenic, palm-lined course down Mount Mayday. Grab your single-rider inner tube and get ready for a curvy waterslide through caverns and waterfalls before splashing down in a refreshing pool at the bottom. Look for some surprises along the way down the mountain!

Keelhaul Falls is a laid-back trip down the left side of Mt. Mayday. Just kick back and relax as your blue tube cruises down the 400-foot slide and splashes into the pool below. Keelhaul feels a little slow if you ride it right after Mayday Falls, so thrill-seekers may be disappointed. Yet its winding path and scenic descent make for a satisfying ride.

Touring Tips

  • Keelhaul Falls is located near the Gang Plank Falls attraction and the Mayday Falls attraction on the slopes of Mount Mayday (back right side of the park, next to Gang Plank Falls and Mayday Falls).
  • Of the 3 different Falls raft rides at Mayday Falls, Keelhaul Falls is the mildest.
  • This gentler, but still fun flume is one that we would put on the list of attractions to visit, but not first thing. This ride will have longer wait times as well, but not as long as the other major attractions.
  • Young children can not be mounted with adults.
  • Getting to the slide, a member of staff you will hold your raft so you can sit in it.
  • Any time of year that the park is open is a good time to visit, but it does get very hot and very crowded during the summer peak season. There are two better times to arrive, shortly before the park opens, and in the warmer months when the park is open at night, its best to get there mid to late afternoon. If you want to go for the morning/early afternoon, it is essential to arrive by park opening time, particularly in the warmer months.
  • Weekdays, the nearer to the beginning of the week the better. Later in the week, Typhoon Lagoon attracts the people who typically spend the beginning of the week at the major parks. Local residents tend to keep things busy on the weekends.

Facts

  • Highly trained and qualified lifeguards are on duty over the course of the day patrolling the Water Park. All Disney lifeguards must complete a thorough training program that exceeds most national standards.
