Experience: Thrill Rides

Downhill Double Dipper is an inner tube waterslide race for big kids, teen and adults at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. Hop on an inner tube and race down the slopes! This waterslide resembles an Olympic-style downhill ski race with starting gates and a time clock to track each racer's time. To allow for a fair race, the start gates open simultaneously when the race begins. But that's not all. Half the race is in the dark! As you speed down a pair of 50-foot high, 230-foot-long side-by-side racing slides at 25 miles per hour, you disappear into a tunnel and emerge just before splashdown.

Downhill Double Dipper is one of the world's only side-by-side racing slides. his adrenaline pumping attraction's slides are 50 feet high and are 230 feet long. Guests travel up to speeds of 25 mph on these twin inner tube runs as they race past internationally recognized ski racing graphic elements and flags. Time clocks count-off each downhill heat and the runs are outfitted with automated audio equipment that signals the start of each race. Also, it is one of the few racing slides where pushoff speed is not a factor, as gates hold back riders until it is time for the race to begin. This attraction has a minimum height requirement of 48.

Touring Tips

  • Downhill Double Dipper is near the Snow Stormers attraction and the Toboggan Racers attraction on the slopes of Mount Gushmore. To get to these attractions, follow the signs to the attractions at the Purple Slope area of the mountain.
  • Downhill Double Dipper has two identical slides, side by side, with the purpose of two people racing for the fastest time.
  • Downhill Double Dipper is a great attraction for those who want to race against a friend, family member, or stranger. Compete for bragging rights to the fastest downhill time.
  • This attraction is extremely quick, only 10 seconds, and many feel it is not worth the wait that could be present if visiting during a busy time.
  • Any time of year that the park is open is a good time to visit, but it does get very hot and very crowded during the summer peak season. There are two better times to arrive, shortly before the park opens, and in the warmer months when the park is open at night, its best to get there mid to late afternoon. If you want to go for the morning/early afternoon, it is essential to arrive by park opening time, particularly in the warmer months.
  • Weekdays, the nearer to the beginning of the week the better. Later in the week, Blizzard Beach attracts the people who typically spend the beginning of the week at the major parks. Local residents tend to keep things busy on the weekends.
