Crush 'N' Gusher

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

  • Type: Thrill Ride
Height: 48 inches (122cm) or taller
Experience: Thrill Rides

Crush 'n' Gusher is a multi-rider, water coaster-like raft ride for big kids, teens and adults at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Defy gravity and discover surprise after surprise as gushing jets of water rush your raft through this white-knuckle thrill ride. Up to 3 Guests can ride at once, or you can take the plunge yourself!

Themed as an abandoned and dilapidated fruit process center, guests may slide down three different slides: the "Banana Blaster", "Coconut Crusher", or "Pineapple Plunger". Each of the 3 waterslides propels you approximately 400 feet through hairpin turns, sudden drops and gravity-defying uphill climbs for an exhilarating plunge into Hideaway Bay.

After rides ascend a dilapidated structure seemingly through a dense tropical forest, riders are sent down one of the three Crush 'N' Gusher slides, which all return to the Hideaway Bay pool in different paths consisting of uphill and downhill tunnels, turns, curves, and the like. Guests travel upon inflatable rafts decorated with tropical fruits, reflecting Disney's theme of a journey through a tropical fruit processing plant.

Touring Tips

  • The Coconut Crusher and Pineapple Plunger slides accommodate up to 3 riders in one raft. The Banana Blaster accommodates up to 2 riders per raft.
  • Crush 'n' Gusher is usually open for Morning Extra Magic Hours.
  • Any time of year that the park is open is a good time to visit, but it does get very hot and very crowded during the summer peak season. There are two better times to arrive, shortly before the park opens, and in the warmer months when the park is open at night, its best to get there mid to late afternoon. If you want to go for the morning/early afternoon, it is essential to arrive by park opening time, particularly in the warmer months.
  • Weekdays, the nearer to the beginning of the week the better. Later in the week, Typhoon Lagoon attracts the people who typically spend the beginning of the week at the major parks. Local residents tend to keep things busy on the weekends.

Facts

  • These slides range from 410 to 420 feet (130 m) in length, but all send riders to a plunge into the "Hideaway Bay" pool.

  • The water jets put out 1,360 US gallons a minute and 9 million US gallons) every 12 and a half hours.
  • One slide can fill a regular home pool in a minute.
  • In addition to the "water coaster" there is an expanded beach area and wading pools at Hideaway Bay located adjacent to the Shark Reef attraction.

  • Highly trained and qualified lifeguards are on duty over the course of the day patrolling the Water Park. All Disney lifeguards must complete a thorough training program that exceeds most national standards.

The Crush 'N' Gusher opened officially on March 15, 2005.
