History

When the park opened in February 2001, this space was dedicated to an exhibit called Seasons of the Vine. The short film, originally sponsored by Robert Mondavi, the Napa Valley wine producer, immediately disappointed in terms of getting park guests into the building (many never even realized the show was there) and Mondavi had abandoned its sponsorship by the end of 2001. The show continued with the Mondavi name removed, though it became even more difficult to find it. Eventually, the theater was only opened for a few minutes at the top of each hour to see if anybody was interested (frequently nobody was), or you could ask to see the show.

Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar opened October 20, 2008, replacing the old Seasons of the Vine Theater at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.

A wine cask in the Blue Sky Cellar is marked WED Wine. It pays homage to Walter Elias Disney (WED) Enterprises, a private company formed by Walt Disney in 1952. It refers to the group of artists, designers, engineers, writers and builders personally recruited by Walt, to help develop and create ideas for his new theme park. WED Enterprises would evolve and eventually become Walt Disney Imagineering.
