ExperienceFun for Little Ones, Character Meet & Greet

Tucked into the joint between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland is this little hidden oasis provides a rare opportunity indeed: the chance to meet Tinker Bell. Because of Tinker Bell's very small stature she doesn't often get to interact with park guests, mainly appearing in parades and in the sky during firework shows. At Pixie Hollow, however, park guests are shrunk in size so that they can meet Tink and her pixie friends.

Magically shrink down to fairy size and discover the secret home of the Disney Fairies! At this Character Greeting attraction, you'll frolic with Tinker Bell and her best friends Silvermist, Iridessa, Fawn and Rosetta.

Start your enchanting journey on the banks of a peaceful pond. Wind past waterfalls and try to spot your hidden fairy friends. You'll become small as a sprite, as blades of grass and flowers tower above you. Once you arrive in this enchanted little land, you'll meet your pixie pals. Don't forget your camera! Fairies love to have their pictures taken. Along the way, you'll discover how snowflakes are shaped, what gives stars their twinkle and who gives bees their buzz!

Touring Tips

  • Since this meet-and-greet is so new-and the opportunity to meet Tinker Bell so unique-it is difficult to know what how the wait time will stabilize. In the early days though, the wait has been up to 90 minutes and the previous meet-and-greet here (Little Mermaid) saw up to 30 minute waits.
  • The queue is designed to deal with a "story" problem: namely that Tinker Bell is supposed to be very, very small and the one you're going to meet is more human sized. So the queue attempts to create the illusion that you are shrinking as you move farther in. Giant blades of grass also serve to shield the action from illusion shattering observation from outside the area.

Facts

  • In October 2008, two Pixie Hollow locations opened at Disney Parks. One opened at Disneyland near the Matterhorn in the area where Ariel's Grotto was formerly located, and the other at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Mickey's Toontown Fair.
  • Another version opened at Hong Kong Disneyland on January 21, 2011 as one of the festivities to celebrate the park's 5th anniversary. At these Pixie Hollow locations, guests have the opportunity to meet and greet Tinker Bell and other fairies from the franchise, as well as dine with them.

History

This space was first put to use on June 12, 1957, with the opening of the Monsanto House of the Future. Built almost entirely out of plastics, the walkthrough attraction demonstrated all kinds of futuristic household appliances. It lasted until December 1967, by which time it was looking increasingly ridiculous. Though the house was removed, the landsaping and gardens remained and other than a souvenir cart being added to the area, it remained a pretty place to relax (known as Alpine Gardens, due to the view of the Matterhorn behind it) until the area was relandscaped and the King Triton fountain was added. Originally the fountain included "dancing waters" that went over the walkway but that feature was eventually turned off. In 2002 the Ariel meet-and-greet was added to the area. That meet-and-greet was closed on August 17, 2008, and the entire area was remodeled into Pixie Hollow, including removing the King Triton fountain from the water.

Hidden Mickeys

  • Near the base of the Pixies Welcome sign, found in the Pixie Hollow queue, there is a Hidden Mickey carved into the signpost's bark.
