The attraction's name comes from King Triton, Ariel's father in the Little Mermaid. Unlike the horse arrangement in King Arthur Carousel in Disneyland, this carousel uses sea horses, flying fish, whales, dolphins, sea lions, otters and garibaldi.

Discover an enchanting "aquatic adventure" when you climb aboard this captivating carousel. Ride one of 56 unique hand-carved sea animals or 2 water chariots. Go round and round on your magical marine creature to a place where - as Sebastian from The Little Mermaid sings - "It's better down where it's wetter, take it from me!" This under-the-sea themed merry go round is inspired by King Triton, the father of Ariel in The Little Mermaid. You can spot King Triton on the painted mural on walls behind the carousel.

Touring Tips

  • King Triton's Carousel is located in Paradise Pier in front of California Screamin'. The steeds on this unique carousel are not horses, but colorful underwater mammals and fish - dolphins, sea lions, whales, sea otters, flying fish and garibaldi. And yes, one kind of horse - the sea horse.
  • Opens and closes shortly before the night's final performance of World of Color. The ride does close during earlier performances as well but reopens briefly between shows.
  • This attraction generally has a fairly short queue, though the wait is shortest early or late in the day. The queue winds around the carousel past the "sea shell" fountains, and is usually in the shade.
  • This attraction is very popular with children and those who are children at heart. Young children should be accompanied by an adult.
  • There is no height requirement, and although there are belts to secure riders to their animals, smaller children should be held on by an adult standing next to them.
  • There is a bench on this carousel so you may want to sit with very young infants or less adventurous young children.
  • The closest restrooms are located just behind the carousel, at the exit of California Screamin'.

  • Unlike your traditional carousel, King Triton's Carousel does not have any horses for riding; unless you count the seahorse. There are 56 sea animals and two water chariots. All of the animals go up and down.
  • There is a large mural of King Triton on the wall behind the carousel.
  • Along the edges of the carousel's canopy there are 16 icons depicting famous seaside amusement parks, like Santa Monica Pier, Belmont Park, Ocean Park Pier, and Loof's Pier.
  • Amerigoround at Six Flags Fiesta Texas is identical and similar to this one but without the band organ facade.
