Jumpin' Jellyfish is an adaptation of the classic parachute ride with an underwater theme where riders are suspended under a giant jellyfish and gently rise to the top of a huge kelp stalk, then float gently back down. Soar up through an enchanting kelp bed on your own jolly jellyfish! This kid-friendly jump-style ride lifts you 40 feet into the air and rewards you with a stunning view of Paradise Bay. Hold on to your tentacles as you float slowly back down to dry land. Before you board this aquatic-themed ride, you'll wind through a canopy of jellyfish umbrellas, and wind up on one of 12 launching pads. This tubular tower is 60-feet tall and covered with sea-green kelp adornments.

Jumpin' Jellyfish is located on the edge of Paradise Bay between the Golden Zephyr and the Orange Stinger. Its open queue meanders through rock formations like those found in tidepool areas.

There are two towers constructed to resemble giant stalks of kelp. Six colorful "jellyfish" vehicles are suspended from each tower, each seating two people. After the safety belts are fastened the jellyfish slowly rise 40' into the air, and move gently up and down before descending back to the bottom. The ride lasts about a minute-and-a-half.

Touring Tips

  • Jumpin' Jellyfish rarely has much of a line, but it is a slow-loading attraction, and the line doesn't move very fast. The line can be surprisingly long due to low capacity, but still rarely longer than 20 minutes.
  • The up-and-down motion is very gentle and smooth. Still, those who are afraid of heights should probably not ride.
  • This attraction appeals largely to younger children who are too small (or too intimidated) to ride the Maliboomer. Young children should be accompanied by an adult.
  • Opens with the park and closes shortly before the day's first performance of World of Color.
  • Riders must be 40" tall and there is a weight limit of 350 pounds per vehicle.
  • The closest restrooms are located next to Burger Invasion.

Facts

  • Jumpin' Jellyfish opened with Disney's California Adventure on February 8, 2001.
  • The attraction's name comes from the jellyfish-themed parachute ride vehicles, the bubble and 50-foot (15 m), kelp-themed towers. Jumpin' Jellyfish has a sister-themed attraction that opened in September 2001 at Tokyo DisneySea.
  • This attraction is similar to that of the former Maliboomer, but scaled down to more child-sized proportions and rethemed.
  • The phrase "Jumpin' Jellyfish" is used by Sebastian in The Little Mermaid.
  • The 180-foot-tall (55 m) Maliboomer required riders to be at least 52 inches (1,300 mm) tall, whereas Jumpin' Jellyfish only requires riders to be at least 40 inches (1,000 mm).

Hidden Mickeys

  • A Classic Mickey is hidden amongst the bubbles that swirl around the attraction's main tower.
